“As thrilling to watch as hear”: London & Hamburg concerts reviewed

The Colin Currie Group has received fantastic reviews for concerts at London’s Royal Festival Hall and Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie.

The Times’s Richard Morrison said, in a five-star review of Drumming and Tehillim:

“This performance of Steve Reich’s 1971 masterpiece Drumming was as thrilling to watch as hear… I was exhausted and elated just listening to it. I can’t imagine the feelings of those performing.”

Reviewing the Hamburg concerts, the Hamburger Abendblatt said it was “under the spell of Reich’s rhythms”. Over two nights, the group performed Reich’s Music for Pieces of WoodSextetDrummingClapping Music and Music for 18 Musicians at the city’s stunning new concert hall.
